Sometimes, inspiration strikes in the most unexpected ways, and for 6th-grader Elise, it came during her youth group at church, and was confirmed during her Bible class at school. What started as an ordinary lesson soon ignited a passion that reached far beyond the classroom walls.
Moved by what she was learning, Elise felt called to share her newfound excitement with others. Her solution? Starting a neighborhood Bible study! What began as a small idea quickly grew into a meaningful gathering of girls eager to dive into scripture and grow in their faith together.
The sixth grade Bible curriculum at UCA, “Route 66,” takes our students on a tour through all 66 books of the Bible. The students learn a basic introduction to the structure and themes of the Word of God, from creation to the end times. This is an impactful journey for most students, including Elise.
“These Bible stories make me feel very excited,” Elise shared. “I wanted others to feel the same hope and joy that I’ve been learning about.”
With the support of her parents and encouragement from her teacher, she invited a few friends to join her for devotions. The group now meets two times a week, reading passages, discussing their meanings, and exploring how to live out biblical truths in their daily lives.
“Elise is a highly engaged student who consistently demonstrates attentiveness in class and a strong enthusiasm for learning,” her Bible teacher, Mrs. Chant said. “She actively participates in discussions and is eager to apply what she is learning in Bible class to her personal life. Elise approaches the truths of God's Word with confidence and strives to integrate them into her actions. It is a pleasure to teach a student who is passionate about learning and growing in their relationship with God!”
The neighborhood Bible study has become more than just a gathering; it’s a testament to the power of one young heart on fire for God. It serves as a reminder that even the smallest steps of faith can make a big impact.
Elise hopes her story will encourage others to share their faith boldly. “I have gained a lot of self-confidence,” she said. “I feel so happy that I’m not just sitting on this information I’ve learned from the Bible.”
We’re so proud of Elise and can’t wait to see how her faith journey continues to unfold!
