It’s hard to put into words, but God is moving in this place. ☝️ This week has had its challenges for our middle school students and how they are relating with each other. During today’s chapel service, our MS Dean spoke to the hearts of the students about integrity and consistency, how we view discipline biblically as a loving correction, and that no one has the right to make this place unsafe for someone else (emotionally, physically, mentally…etc.). The student worship team led their peers through a worship song. Speaking to the students today was a UCA alumnus. The theme across all grades this month is compassion. His prayer for our students is that they feel so broken by the pain in this world, that they are moved to compassion and to take action. After hearing those words, our Dean led the students through a time of vulnerability and admitting a peer has hurt them or has been the one to hurt someone else. They were then encouraged to take action and apologize to someone they hurt. #ucathunder

🔍🐜 Extraordinary Discovery! Mrs. Nerdahl’s 4th-grade scientists pretended to stumble upon an uncharted territory and uncover a brand-new species of insect never seen before! 🦗🏞️ Taking their newfound knowledge about insects, they speculated about the unique characteristics of this make-believe creature. From designing its intricate body parts to its peculiar behaviors, and hypothesizing about its habitat and lifestyle. 👏As they shared their unique representations, both in drawings and artistic models, the creativity and excitement in the room was contagious!🤩 #ucathunder #ucastem

📚✨ When Students Become the Teachers! 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫 👥🧩 Working collaboratively in groups, our students embarked on a journey through the pages of history covering the War of 1812. They pieced together a fascinating jigsaw poster representing a specific timeframe within this pivotal moment in history, covering key points such as major battles and political developments. 🕰️📜 🎤🤓 With confidence and enthusiasm, each group took the stage to educate their classmates, helping to make history come alive! #ucathunder

She goes far beyond the average bus driver, showing incredible intentionality with every student, even those who don't ride the bus. 🏛️✨ Our 5th-grade students are exploring Minnesota's rich history. To take the learning beyond the classroom, they embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Minnesota Capitol Building and the MN History Center! ✨📚 🇺🇸🗳️Our young historians marveled at the grand architecture and rich history of the capitol building. From the Rotunda to the Senate and House Chambers, they soaked in the significance of our state's governance while learning about the legislative process. 📜 They also explored the exhibits showcasing the state's vibrant history. From the fur trade era to the modern age, they better understood the diverse cultures and stories that have shaped our beloved Minnesota. 🕰️ #ucathunder #ucaelementary

Our high school Spanish students recently embarked on a thrilling field trip to the MN Zoo and Teresa’s restaurant.🇲🇽📚 Our students had the unique opportunity to listen to presentations spoken entirely in Spanish about some of the animals that live at the zoo. 🐢🦜 At the restaurant, they put their language skills to the test by ordering mouthwatering dishes like enchiladas, tacos, and guacamole entirely in Spanish!🌮🥑 #ucathunder #ucaupperschool

🧪What is that sludge?! 🤔🔍Our 9th-grade science class was given a container of “sludge.” They were tasked with figuring out what each of the 6 unknown substances are based on physical properties determined in the lab. 🔬To do this, they applied various separation techniques and unveiled the secrets hidden within the mixture. They carefully observed, hypothesized, and experimented to reveal the individual components of the unknown substances. Whether separating liquids from solids or isolating different components based on their physical properties, our students showcased their skills and teamwork to find the results.👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 #ucathunder #ucastem #ucaupperschool

🇨🇳Mrs. Mi has been very busy with her Chinese students of all ages. She loves to share about Chinese culture, traditions, and the art of the language and characters. 🦋🐸🛩️Elementary students practiced the art of origami. They learned to fold butterflies, airplanes, and frogs. The high school students have been memorizing Chinese characters and practicing writing them out from memory. They also had the opportunity to apply all of their Chinese knowledge in the real world on a field trip to the Asia Mall. Here, they used chopsticks, recognized characters, and noticed unique pieces of the culture. Through all of this, one of Mrs. Mi’s students has expressed interest in becoming a missionary to areas in China that have been untouched by the Gospel! 🙏 #ucathunder

👰🤵Mrs. Q and Mr. U Tie the Knot! 💍🎉 Our little kindergarteners witnessed the cutest wedding ever between two letters that stick together forever. To celebrate the union, they indulged in some delightful cupcakes. Because what's a wedding without a sweet treat, right? 🧁They even learned some dances that you would traditionally do at a wedding dance: the Chicken Dance and the Bunny Hop!💃🎶 #ucathunder #ucaelementary

📐🪁Our geometry students have successfully wrapped up their unit on quadrilaterals and polygons. They went beyond textbooks to showcase their newfound knowledge and created their very own kites! The challenge was on to ensure their kites had the perfect balance of angles and sides. 🤓Applying everything they learned in hands-on experiments as well as creating a word problem to go with their kite project, these students are well-rounded and headed for the skies! #ucathunder #ucaupperschool #ucastem
